Alexander Keith McClung

American diplomat

Alexander Keith McClung (14 June 1811 – 23 March 1855) was an professional from Vicksburg, Mississippi, who for a little while served as US chargé d'affaires to Bolivia in President Zachary Taylor's administration.[1] An "inveterate Rebel duelist"[2] nicknamed "The Black In the saddle of the South", he deal with as many as fourteen joe six-pack in duels during his life.[3] One of his opponents (victims?) was "Manifee," said to elect "one of the most shining and popular men in ethics State" of Mississippi.[4] He was also a poet.
